I just had to tell someone about the funny events of the last hour before I forget.
Aaron has gone to play poker with some of his friends and I am here with the kiddos watching episodes of 48hours pretending like they don't give me the Heebie Jeebies!
ANYWAY, After getting the kids personal pan pizzas and putting them both in Dalton's bed to play while I was organizing all his clothes. I was packed another storage box for a friend of all of Avery's 6-12 months clothes . Pretty much made me cry. I had formed an emotional attachment to some of those outfits. Nevertheless, I moved on and put the hoodlums in their bubble bath and all sad tears faded quickly.
In case you didn't know this, my kids are incredibly funny. Seriously, they are. They were just a swimmin' away in the bath tub. Avery was trying to dance on her knees, which of course is a huge "no-no," but it is very hard to keep a straight face through this. I finally called it quits and got Dalton bundled up in his bear towel to bring him into the living room. I plopped him in the floor and ran back to get her out of the tub. When I got back in the bathroom she had already gotten herself out of the tub and was IN the cabinet trying to pick out a towel. I brought her back in the living room to find Dalton standing up in his bear hooded towel exposing his little naked booty. I tried to diaper Dalton while attemping to tell Avery that her PJ top couldn't go on her legs while Dalton was crawling off with me trying to diaper him. They continued to crawl all over me. I was BELLY LAUGHING. I don't know that they have ever made me belly laugh before. I couldn't help it, they are so silly and so funny and so stinkin' cute. Even now as I'm sitting on the couch Avery is crawling all over me trying to get me to drink her juice cup while I'm typing and Dalton is standing up holding on to my leg, pushing keys and he keeps biting me. So I pretty much pick my leg up every 3.5 seconds because that seems to deter him. But his bites hurt... BAD!
Anyway, I'm kinda using my blog like a baby book these days so I want to remember stuff like this. Nights like tonight make me want a LOT more kids.

Shower pics.
Pictures!
This is Morgan and Derrick:
The shower really went on without a hitch. But this lady was cracking me up. See the lady on the end of the table closest to Morgan. Black Leather Vest on. She literally came in the door asking Derrick if he was ready to open his presents. She then sat right by them to eat dinner and continued to ask him all through the meal "Derrick, you wanna go open those presents now?" Then she would come up to me or some of the hostesses and say "Derrick is really wanting to open his presents." I had to direct everyone into the living room to watch Derrick before she made a big announcement. She even helped Derrick open his presents. It was hilarious. We laughed about it all night. I don't even think Derrick knows her. I think he just hunts with her husband.
Here are a few pics:

Italian Bread Pudding
P.S. ...
I totally forgot that I was going to tell you the other fantastic thing about MnM yesterday ... I discovered the best breakfast casserole ever. ( I had actually made a Paula Deen dang good one, but woke up super late and didn't have time to bake it, so I had to pick up Chicken Minis from Chik-fil-A which were still quite a hit. And I brought the casserole to my bible study this morning and that was better bc we usually don't have treats!)
ANYWAY I seriously stalked the food tables after MnM to find who had made this delicacy ... it was just fantastic!
It's from Southern Living and is called Italian Bread Pudding ... you will want to come up with an occasion ASAP to make this divine dish.
5 eggs
1 c milk
1 1/2 t Dijon mustard
1 t dried basil
3/4 t salt
1/8 ground red pepper
1(9.5 oz) pkg frozen mozzarella/Monterey Jack cheese Texas toast, chopped
3 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped (about 1 1/4 c)
8 fully cooked bacon slices, chopped
1 c grated Cheddar cheese
1. Whisk together first 6 ingredients until blended.
2. Layer 1/2 of Texas toast in a lightly greased 11X7 baking dish;
3. sprinkle w/ 1/2 of each of tomatoes, bacon, and cheese.
Repeat layers once.
Pour egg mixture over toast and cheese. Cover and chill 4-24 hours.
4. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake casserole 50-55 min. or until center is set. Let stand 5 min. before serving.
I know I know ... my mouth is watering just THINKING about it!! Yum!

Basket Case.
In case you people didn't know I can be an emotional basket case. I think I've always been sensitive and could get get tuned up easily, but I have taken that to a whole new level. Seriously.
I can honestly be sitting with a group of people and I will think about something to do with my kids or just ANYTHING and can get going right there. EMBARRASSING! Sometimes I even will start crying and cry even harder BECAUSE I'm crying. I am an utter and complete mess.
Well, yesterday at Moms 'n More we were nearing the end of our talk and the fire alarm started going off with a scary automated voice telling us to evacuate immediately because of a fire. I was seriously scared to death. I started having tears streaming down my face. Dalton always falls asleep about 30-45 minutes after he gets there and they put him in this little dark room with a little sound machine on and he sleeps for pretty much his whole time at MnM. My mind was going a million miles an hour wondering "Will they remember to get him out of there?" "Are they freaking out?" I calmly and quickly as possible filled up my bible study bag with my stuff and tried to proceed out of the big room with the other 100+ moms who were not as noticeably freaking out. I even heard one mom say "do you think there was a shooting??" SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!?! Upon reaching the common area where you would normally head to get your kids (which I must also note there were 3 women with walkies blocking the closed doors and saying "DO NOT GET YOUR CHILDREN!" (again, more tears, and more tears).
Finally one lady said "it's OK, a 3 year old just pulled the fire alarm." Oh. My. Lord. I was a mess.
When we get back in there and got situated a live microphone fell off the table making a sound equivalent to an explosion. No lie. It was crazy. Then a lady stood up and told us how they get the kids out, putting each class in the rolly cribs so they just wheel them out super fast,( more tears.) Then when I picked up Dalton I was talking to one of the lady's in Dalton's class about it and I was one of the last mom's in the hallway because I had already gotten Avery. However there are seriously like 6 hallways and 50 classrooms. BUT as soon as I say "I think a little 3 year old pulled the fire alarm" A mom turns around and says "that was my son." Typical, typical.
Needless to say I had the longest, most realistic dream last night that we were in some horrible fire.
I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

My 1st Shower!
Hola Amigos! Today is the day of our Mexican Fiesta Tool Shower for Derrick. I am really excited! The cleaning lady just left and my house is smelling all fresh, clean and just Fabuloso! I still need to tackle my closet and Avery's. My closet doesn't have a door on it and as soon as you open my bedroom door you are greeted by our mess hall of a walk-in-closet. Pretty high on my non-negotiable list for the new house is His and Hers walk-in-closets. I am done sharing with Aaron. As my mother-in-laws preacher's son would say "sharing makes me angry."
I'm about to tackle the fireplace first. It's quite full of soot and I've been meaning to do it for some time! Today is the day ...
Then Aaron is headed to meet Mom to get Avery and take her to her first Birthday Party. Well, I guess she's been to a couple before, but now she can walk and it's for someone her age- Will Sexton. I hate that I'm not going to be there, but I've got a bunch of stuff to do around here. Aaron's mom is coming to get Bubba at 1 and my mom and Sarah Baker will be here at about 2:30 to start getting it all ready! Yay! I hate that it's raining and even a possibility for snow- but "Acuna Mattata" (it means no worries, what a wonderful phrase ...)
Tonight's Menu includes 4 different kinds of enchiladas (beef, sour cream and chicken, shrimp, and cheese) spanish rice, refried beans, queso, guacomole, salsa and a few desserts ... Sounds good to me.
Have I told you that Dalton is pulling up on the couch! Eek!! He is! It's absolutely precious because he is so excited when he gets up but it scares me to death when he falls down. I've been keeping literally every pillow in the house around the couch so that he just falls on a pillow mound. It's so crazy how much I love that little man. It's so different having a boy and a girl. I love them so differently. I loveeeeee Avery Elizabeth Boone more than anything in the whole world. I think I just think of her as such a big girl (at 21 months old today). Even though she is SUCH a baby!
And that baby boy ... there is nothing like it. I just giggle and laugh at all his little coos and sounds all day.
Children are God's greatest gift in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!

A Whirlwind of a Day ...
Today is going to be a whirlwind of a day...
Derrick and Morgan are two of our best friends who are getting married March 21 and Aaron and I are so excited! We are both in the wedding and are so happy for them.
Mom came to get Avery and I am trying to get the house ready for tomorrow. We are having a tool shower for Derrick at our house tomorrow night. 3 other couples are helping. We are doing Mexican food and there are going to be a heck of a lot of people at my house. AGH ... about right now I'm kinda thinking "what the heck did I sign up for??" I'm a little stressed, but the truth is I have no reason to stress. It's pretty much all done. I'm making my food tonight and a lady is coming to clean the house in the morning and Aaron's mom is getting Dalton at 1 ... so it's fine, it's fine, it's fine. I have to keep telling myself this!
All in all I'm excited- I really think it's going to be fun! I just think I can get overwhelmed and starting getting really self-conscious about stuff when I have things like this. For whatever reason I LOVE to have people over. I really do! I love cooking and hanging out with people at our place and I just really enjoy that. My mom told me once that there is a difference between hospitality and entertaining. That entertaining is all about me, it's look at this food I've made, how nice my house looks, how wonderful everything is. But being hospitable is all about them. Making sure your guests are comfortable and feel welcomed and are having the best time they can have. I just really hope that everyone has fun!
Anyway I've gotta get back to getting this house in order. I think I spent all day sweeping, mopping, cleaning every surface on Wednesday and SOMEHOW it is a complete disaster again ... shocker.

I just loaded my page and literally screamed... anyway so so so sorry!! Agh!! I'm mortified!! That definitely wasn't intentional!

Blah Blah Mondays ...
So I am quite sure that Monday is the only day of the week that I truly dislike. I think it's that Monday is almost assured to be the day my house is the messiest, I do a gazillion things of laundry on Mondays so that I kinda have an excuse to hide off on my bed for 2 hours watching the Bachelor and folding it. But today I really didn't like it. These poor babies are just SO sick. Avery has just fussed and whined all day long. And to every question, every command she has replied with a terribly mad "NO!" ouch.
I think it was off to a not so hot start bc I've had sick babies in my bed since last Wednesday. Avery never did take a nap yesterday. She had cat naps and all but never a nap. And she had been up from about 2am-6:30 am sick the night before. She finally laid down on the couch at about 5 ... it was pitiful- so pitiful in fact that I let her sleep with us. It's never a good idea to go to sleep and wake up on kid duty. I just never feel like I've gotten my MUCH NEEDED and MUCH DEPENDED upon R&R. Another ouch.
And to top it all off I have agreed to eat something that our 2nd month of marriage I vowed I would never eat again ... Hamburger Helper ... 3rd and Final ouch.
However, the Bachelor is about to be on and I'm pumped. I don't even care about the Hamburger Helper.
Tomorrow I'm gonna have to drop the kids off at Mom's before Moms 'n More. I can't let them get around other kids, they're still contagious. And then I'm going to get my hair cut.
I really need to spend every day scrubbing my house this week because Saturday night we're having a Tool shower for one of Aaron's best friend's Derrick who is marrying one of my best friends, Morgan. Super fun. However I'm kinda getting a little anxious that it's here. Eek!
Well, I better go whip up my fabulously fancy and nutritional dinner before my show is on.
Peace

Happy Valentine's Day Loves!!!
Happy Valentine's Day Loves!!
Today has been 100% delightful thus far! We woke up at about 7 because Dalton was ready to celebrate his first Valentine's Day. He drank his bottle and rolled around on the floor being as cute as can be. About 7:30 Aaron went out on the front porch and low and behold this was on the front porch ...
Yes, Mary Virginia had brought Starbucks over ... Apparently she drove through the night to come home and when passing through Bryant she decided to be the sweetest thing ever and bring over treats. I literally cried when I read it was from her. It was just such a random act of kindness that made me feel super special. Mare is seriously one of those people that I am just blessed beyond belief to know, and who I aspire to be more like. She's wonderful.
Well, muffins were definitely a hit with Avery and Dalton. Dalton was squealing with delight while eating them. I let them eat on the little play couch in the living room floor, while watching Backyardigans. I needed to vacuum the rug anyway, so what the heck???
Yes, Avery has a black eye. I think I left that out of my synopsis of the day from you know where. She climbed up in the highchair and it fell back on her. Poor thing. After they kinda woke up a little more I brought in the Valentine's surprises which Avery absolutely loved and Dalton even liked playing with his too!!
I gave Aaron the Lost season 4 DVDs last night so we could watch some.
Aaron got me the cutest sweetest necklace with the kiddos names on it. This is obviously not it, I just copied this from the website. I have loved it forever and am uber excited about it!!
Here is a pic of all the V-Day goodies. Avery loved the little Fancy Nancy purse and sunglasses and REALLY loved the coloring book and crayons. I have no idea why I haven't gotten her any before. She always colors at Mom's house and Aaron's parent's house. She's just been coloring away this morning.
This afternoon I took the kiddos to Aaron's parents and then we went to some of my family's good friends, the Riggans, wedding reception/party for their son Anthony, who is getting married in TX, but this way we can all celebrate too!!
All in all it was a Fabulous Day!! I couldn't feel more loved!!

25 Things About Me.
1. I am thoroughly convinced I have the 2 sweetest, cutest kids in the whole world and not a day goes by that I don't thank God for them.
2. I tell myself I have to have coffee in the morning, even though it's white from all the coffeemate and sugar.
3. I never ever leave my house without my seatbelt on. (and you shouldn't either, trust me, I know)
4. I think I'm at Target at least 4 times a week.
5. My day is not complete until I've talked to my mom, sisters, mother-in-law, and Lisa at least twice each.
6. I am a compulsive doodler.
7. Recently someone asked me what I liked to do when I wasn't with my kids and I thought about it for 2 days ... I still got nothin'.
8. I prefer to have a fire in the fireplace at all times .... Even when it's 75 degrees out. This drives Aaron crazy.
9. These days I measure success very differently ... shower+bible study+clean house+dinner readyby 6= a very successful day (and very rare).
10. One of life's simple pleasures is clean sheets. I would wash them every day if I had time- nothin' like it.
11. I believe God loves "fixer-uppers" and I'm proud to be living proof of one.
12. People energize me and I really don't need much "me time" by myself. (Which is good because I probably wouldn't get it anyway).
13. I am a huge cyber-stalker- watch out.
14. I am naively optimistic- I just always believe the best case scenario is going to work out.
15. I cannot WAIT to take Avery and Dalton to the lake and beach this summer.
16. Shang-ri-La on Lake Ouachita is my favorite place in the whole world.
17. Noone makes me laugh like my husband. He has the quickest wit of anyone I know.
18. Cooking is one of my favorite things- I would fix 6 course dinners every night if I had time ... and baby-sitters.
19. Everytime I walk outside in cold weather I think of people on the Titanic - no lie.
20. I would love 5 kids, but I'm becoming quite convinced God only calls a select few to be able to live through that.
21. I would monogram everything in my house ... def my fav
22. I am finally embracing Bryant, apparantly just in time to move even farther out.
23. I believe God loves a challenge- even if it's just to show you how big he really is.
24. I love that having kids has shown me just a tiny taste of how much God loves us.
25. Even being the baby-sitting queen I was ... nothing prepared me for how hard this mom thing really is!!
2. I tell myself I have to have coffee in the morning, even though it's white from all the coffeemate and sugar.

Those Dang Sick Bugs.
Well troops, it has gotten worse. We found out Wednesday Dalton does have RSV. Isn't that horrible. I just sobbed and sobbed in the doctors office saying "he CAN'T have RSV! WE can't have RSV" ... we still have RSV. He just coughs and coughs and coughs. I've been doing his inhaler while he's sleeping though and that seems to work just fine. Avery is starting the coughing this morning, but it's much milder in older babies. I just remember Sarah Baker and Emerson having it at like 6 and 9 weeks and they had to be put in the hospital ... so scary.
Wednesday night from about 12-2 he cried and coughed his heart out. He didn't want a bottle, he bucked all around when I held him, and he screamed bloody murder when I laid him down. It was horrendous. Last night my mother-in-law spent the night so Aaron and I could escape for a little while. We went and got sushi and then to Starbucks for a treat! :)
However, I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon. Apparently I have a stone (like a kidney stone, but in my cheek) like in my salivatory gland. So it is infecting my whole cheek, jaw, ear.... super painful. I can barely open my mouth on the right side. I got some anti-biotics though, so hopefully I'll be over it soon! That was the "ulcer" I thought I was getting the other day. I mean seriously- what the heck is that???
ANYWAY! My mom is coming today to help me and let me run a couple errands ... I still need to grab a couple Valentine's Day surprises! :)
Well, loves, I gotta run. Hope you all have a FABULOUS Valentine's Day weekend!!

When does "normalcy" start??
Recently one of my girlfriends told me that she was ready for her wedding to be over and ready for her "normal" life to start. I did a double take and said "please tell me when THAT starts ..."
I am truly hoping the last few weeks are not what "normal" looks like.
I am a summer-loving girl. I really can't think of anything I like about winter ... maybe getting snowed in at Mom and Dad's that one time and making all kinds of yummy food .......um, yeah that's about it. I'm annoyed by all the extra clothes, the sicklings, the traffic, the weather watches, hate it. But yesterday my life took on a whole new sense of abnormal ... maybe this day re-cap will make you smile, because it does have some humor- if it wasn't your day.
The events that took place are in no way fabricated ... this is truly truly how it was.
Starting at 7:00 a.m.
I got up and went to get Avery up. It was a Tuesday on which we go to Moms 'n More and it is probably one of the highlights of my week. I just absolutely love it. When I brought Av in I realized she had bumps all over her face and arms and a couple on her chest. No fever, but bumps. Was this chicken pox?? I was trying to remember whether or not she got that vaccine when Dalton's horrendous cough came over the monitor. He did have fever and he had those sick little pitiful red eyes that just break your heart.
7:15 Aaron tells me I shouldn't go to Moms 'n More (thanks babe).
7:30 Aaron leaves for the day to lounge in his desk chair, talk to people on the phone and play on a computer (this is what I'm thinking at this point, I'm sure it's not that great, but at this point, that seems heavenly)
8:00 Fix Avery pancakes and juice try to get her to eat something. Dalton on the other hand had no interest in food or drink. Which is pretty crazy for him.
8:30 I decide to call the doc and see if I can get them in. Of course by 8:30 there entire day is booked ............... ridiculous. (another reason I love winter).
9:15 Dalton lays down for a nap ... but is coughing so hard he barely sleeps.
10ish I put Av down for a nap. Her screaming wakes Dalton up and he is super upset.
Over the next hour I pick up the house, check e-mail, drink my coffeemate with a splash of coffee and try to get Dalton back down. Then I hear Avery fussing. I go into her room and she has taken off her diaper and left the biggest ... "surprise" I've ever seen. I strip down the sheets and bedding and chunk it into the washer. While I'm doing this she wakes Dalton up... wonderful.
I start roasting some chicken for Paula Deen's Chicken Noodle Soup ... (recipe to follow, it was the highlight of my day.)
Avery runs around doing her tiny tornado routine, emptying every basket, drawer, cabinet she can.
About noon my kitchen was a danger zone because the soup has about 50 ingred... but so worth it. I had left a lighter on the stove top bc I had lit a candle. It wasn't on a burner, jsut the surface. With the soup boiling, the lighter EXPLODED in the kitchen ... yes EXPLODED. Shards of plastic went every which way imaginable and I was shaking for about 5 minutes. Thankfully Avery was still as active as ever and so I was distracted from my attempt to burn down our house.
She unscrewed her juice cup filled to the brim of cran-grape juice and dumped it on the floor making her own little juice pond to jump and play in
......................................................................................................................................................................................
I am not making this up.
There were little juice footprints all over the hardwoods and tile.... thank goodness we don't have carpet.
Finally I think about 2 I decided to take them out on the porch. It had been raining but it wasn't now. We live in an older home and the door knob definitely needs to be replaced. It has a habit of coming off track and locking you out. Well the door was open and Dalton and I were swinging on the porch swing. Avery was kinda coming in and out. Well of course on one such trip she slammed the door shut locking us all out. I was not patient or peaceful about this episode.
I ran socked feet through the muddy walkway to the side door ... locked. Tried the pool door ... locked. However earlier I had cracked a window. So Dalton and I took the screen off and climbed through the door. If Avery had had sheets or even a mattress pad on her bed I would have put her right to bed. However I had stripped them earlier and just couldn't put her on the bare mattress.
I fed Dalton some soup and he loved it and then I laid him down and got Avery dressed. It always makes me feel better if Avery is at least all ready, no matter what I look like. Right after doing this I was cleaning the kitchen and I'm not really sure what happened. I think she fell out of the highchair she climbed into and fell out giving herself quite a shiner.
AAGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was not my best day. All of this stress has given me the most painful ulcer in my mouth that now I can't even speak ... Horrendous.
Had to share.
Paula Deen Chicken Noodle Soup
Ingredients
Stock:
1 (2 1/2 to 3-pound) fryer chicken, cut up
3 1/2 quarts water
1 onion, peeled and diced
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 bay leaves
3 chicken bouillon cubes
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Soup:
2 cups sliced carrots
2 cups sliced celery, with leafy green tops
2 1/2 cups uncooked egg noodles
1 cup sliced mushrooms
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
1/3 cup cooking sherry
2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary leaves
1 cup grated Parmesan, optional
3/4 cup heavy cream, optional
Seasoning salt
Freshly ground black pepper
Crusty French bread, for serving
Directions
For the stock: add all ingredients to a soup pot. Cook until chicken is tender, about 35 to 45 minutes. Remove chicken from pot and set aside to cool. Remove and discard bay leaves and onion. You should have approximately 3 quarts of stock. When chicken is cool enough to touch, pick bones clean, discarding bones, skin, and cartilage. Set chicken aside.
For the soup: bring stock back to a boil, add carrots, and cook for 3 minutes. Add celery and continue to cook for 5 to 10 minutes. Add egg noodles and cook according to directions on package. When noodles are done, add chicken, mushrooms, parsley, sherry and rosemary. Add Parmesan and cream, if using. Cook for another 2 minutes. Adjust seasoning, if needed, by adding seasoning salt and pepper. Enjoy along with a nice hot crusty loaf of French bread.
It is quite the cure all ... even for a day like mine. :)
